Paula Mallory Engel

Paula Engel, an attorney for more than 25 years, is the chief social services attorney for the Onondaga County Department of Law.  As Chief Welfare Attorney, she assists the Commissioners for the Childrens’ Services, Adult Services and Public Benefits Departments with administrative hearings, compliance, contractual and other legal issues. She previously served as a prosecutor with the District Attorney’s office, where she maintained a 100% trial conviction record.  Paula has authored reference materials and presented lectures from New York to Florida on child and adult protective services, Medicaid trusts, recoveries, government contracts, compliance, insurance fraud, cyber-fraud and restitution.  She serves on the Executive Committee of the Metropolitan Syracuse Y Board (past chair of Fayetteville/Manlius branches), is the President-Elect of the Onondaga County Bar Association where she is chair of the "Lawyer in the Classroom" and Professional Ethics Committees; and is a member, appointed by the Fourth Appellate Department, of the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Fifth Judicial District.  Paula also serves as a member of the House of Delegates for the New York State Bar Association.
