Wills are important legal documents for determining who will inherit property and other valuable possessions after someone dies, the assignment of a personal guardian for a child if both parents die or a surviving parent is unable to take care of the child, and the creation of a trust for money or property that children will inherit, as well as the appointment of a trustee to manage the trust. Any adult of sound mind (capable of reasoning) can make a will, which can be handwritten, produced by a software program, or drawn up by an attorney. All wills must be signed, dated, and witnessed by two people.
