...This is a very easy answer. An airsoft pistol is not a firearm. It's a toy. Airsoft away
DISCLAIMER: You asked this question and I answered to the best of my ability without seeing a single stick of police reports or knowing any of the players involved. It's an answer from a knowledgeable person. It should not be considered legal advice and we do not have an attorney-client relationship by simply discussing this on this very strange website.
You should consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney in your area and review your sentencing order before ever taking this action. It’s not really possible to give a clear answer here without knowing more about the underlying offense and priors.
With the situation as it is, at this time you do not want to be ANYWHERE with a firearm or anything that resembles a firearm, unless you are licensed law enforcement or authorized security personnel.
I absolutely do urge you to focus on doing what it takes to work in law enf' or the authorized security field, assuming you are a good and qualified sort of person, because right now we very, very much need all the good, fit and otherwise qualified people we can get to do this work.
I CONGRATULATE YOU !!! You wrote that your felony soon drops to a misdemeanor !!! EXCELLENT !!!!! It is Mega Kewl that you have done the work and positive change - and had the discipline!!! - that it takes to get where you are now!!! KEEP IT UP !!! FYI: I have special fondness and care in my heart for all who have 'had trouble with the law'. Just for one, I have had special reason to have spent many, many hours at various jails and prisons in MN, and I've seen very close up what that reality is. And remember that We Are All One: All of us are imperfect and have done wrong - you've 'done the deal' and have changed, and are continuing to change for the better !! WONDERFUL!!!
I also recommend: Good nutrition. Fitness - all 5 forms of it. Spiritual inner life - I myself have been in 12 Step for many years and those small '164 pages' of the basic text are near-flawless. No drugs or other 'using' - no being around ANY alcohol or other using - no bars EVER, no restaurs' that sell alc' EVER, no Sunday game with family/friend & beer EVER. And no driving using electronics - turn those off and put 'em in trunk and that way you have to worry about 'their' behaviors on the road, not yours. No tailgating EVER, blinkers ALWAYS, complete stops at stop signs, NO speeding - and if you should feel 'road rage' - in yourself or someone else on the road, immediately get off that road and away from that situation.
YOU'RE HEROIC !!
