Can a Business Tax firm not file your taxes if you do not pay up front, never mentioning this was their policy. ?

Agree with Mr. Zagotti. Up-front payment is often the only way that a CPA can ensure that they do not end up working for free. Find a way to pay the bill and get your taxes filed ASAP.

I am a CPA Attorney combo who is a partner is a tax centric CPA firm and we have a pay before filing policy as well.
Attorneys ask for money up front in the form of a retainer so they are assured of payment for work preformed. Over the last decade or so many tax CPAs have started this practice to ensure payment while they still have leverage.
So its not an unreasonable policy or out of line with the industry.
