Do I still have to pay the fines?
Upon expiration of the temp plate - while parked on the street - I received 4 tickets
1) No front plate
2) No rear plate
3) no NY registration
4) no NY state inspection
My court date is Sept 23rd. In the meantime I registered the car in NY , got the plates back & front & got the NYS inspection done.
What should I (reasonably) expect to happen on the 23rd?

Tickets in Nassau will either be returnable to Nassau County TVPA or to a village court--in either case, contesting these tickets will likely result in you having to pay at least one violation and upon submission of proof of registration/inspection/plates, the dismissal of the rest so long as you acted to register and inspect the car very soon after being ticketed. As my colleagues have told you, a trafic attorney can go to court and take care of these for you and you'd not be required to come to court.
Are these parking tickets or were you pulled over and handed tickets by a cop? There is a huge difference.
Whether or not you hire a lawyer, it is always in your interest to take an online defensive driving course, which can be found here: https://www.americansafetycouncil.com/online-courses/?lgr=f03107d0-a438-e111-9481-00c09f3f0f12. Upon completion of the course your auto insurer will have to give you a 10% premium discount for 3 years, and the DMV will give you a 4 point credit towards suspensions in the 18 month period prior to taking the course. So there is an overall savings for taking the course and it can potentially prevent a license suspension for hitting too many points. Are you aware that when you hire a NY traffic ticket defense lawyer you don't even have to go to court your lawyer goes for you?

Are the tickets returnable to the Nassau County Traffic Agency located at 16 Cooper Street, Hempstead, NY? Bring the proof that the vehicle is legally registered, insured and inspected now. They are not going to dismiss everything, but the prosecutor should work with you and give you a good deal. You can also retain an attorney and you will not have to appear.
