When you appear in court you can ask for time to hire an attorney. You should be hiring an attorney immediately to help you with this.

Usually, an adjournment will be granted so you have time to get an attorney, but if you don’t plan to do that, then it’s not likely the court will grant an adjournment just so you can have more time to “prepare”. Good luck!
