Appellate work is very different from trial work. Though an appellate advocate should be a competent trial attorney, not all trial attorneys should be appellate advocates. Paul Croushore's overall successful direct appeal reversal rate is 34.74% as of September 24, 2024.
Only 6.8% of federal criminal appellate decisions are reversals nationally, but Paul's reversal rate for defendants on federal direct appeals is 36.0%.
At the state level, 17.6% of civil appeals result in reversals by the court of appeals for Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Ohio; Paul has succeeded 38.2% of the time in getting the trial court reversed in state civil cases. In criminal cases he has similarly secured reversals of the trial court's decision in 32.0% of criminal direct appeals, compared to the Cincinnati average of 10.6%.
Technical skill, while important, is not enough. There are many competent lawyers, but only a few who succeed in convincing appellate judges to make their trial court colleagues re-try or revise a case that has been decided. Very few are willing to discuss their success rates or publish all of their appellate decisions for your review on his website, .
Paul is admitted in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, U.S. Court of International Trade, and the U.S. Fifth, Sixth, and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal, the state courts of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, and federal courts in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
Paul is an Author for Moore's Federal Practice, Chapters 208 - Complex Appeals, and 207 - Practice in the Federal Circuit, along with chapters covering Civil Rules 17-22, Capacity, Joinder, and Interpleader. Paul was recently named to Who's Who in America.

Outstanding Legal Representation by Paul Croushore, JD, LLM
I had the privilege of working with Paul Croushore on a recent legal matter, and I cannot express enough how impressed I am with his expertise and strategic approach. Paul's brilliant legal strategy was pivotal in getting our case dismissed, leading to a successful outcome in the U.S. District Court ...

Dear Reader, I was humbled when Dr. Croushore accepted my case. Please allow me to explain. I believe that many would have looked down me, not accepted my case, Or charged me Over Abundantly in attorney’s fees simply on, prima facie (at first glance), due to the nature of my convictions wi...

The BEST Attorney in the Tri-State
Paul came highly recommended, from several attorney friends. After I lost a 7 year court battle, that should have never been filed with 2 Big Cincinatti Law Firms, I hired Paul to handle my Appeal of this 7 year nightmare . Mr. Croushore understood, right away, where my previous 4 attorneys made...
I am pleased to report that on June 10, 2020, the Hamilton County Court of Appeals agreed with me. In case C-190406 it held that a judge can properly reconsider his decisions until a final order is filed, and that he properly construed the law and applied the correct standard for determining that a settlement agreement contract which uses present tense means that all claims existing at the time of the agreement are settled. The Court of Appeals also held that the trial judge properly denied the other side's attorney fee claim for over $50,000.

Excellent Representation
I hired Paul to help me with an appeal. His ability to very quickly grasp a complicated case that had already been going on for years was amazing and reassuring. I am not a fan of lawyers after what happened to me and Paul helped restore my faith in the legal profession.
On appeal the 12th District Court of Appeals agreed with me that “there remained disputed genuine issues of material fact as to whether the association's attorney expended hours on unnecessary work and whether any unnecessary work was caused by the association or the association attorney's failure to cooperate and communicate directly with the owner to resolve the dispute over the unpaid assessments.” It reversed the trial court's decision; on remand I was able to successfully settle the dispute during the hearing, saving substantial attorney fees.

Added value to the discussion
My family had discussed the very thing he added to my initial question without knowing we even had that discussion. It was timely, effective and greatly appreciated because it was the part we were still questioning about the same concerns that encouraged us to reach out for legal advice in the first ...

"His success rate in Appeals is higher than any other attorney I know of. He is a very caring attorney and has extended himself many times for his clients in the past. Paul Croushore is a go-to attorney if you have questions about Appellate work. I have worked with Paul on several cases over the years and his work ethic is of the highest caliber. He is able to analyze complicated sets of facts for solutions to the client's problems."

“I represented an accountant who was my C.P.A. In 2000 I fired him and sued him for defrauding me. The jury found him to have defrauded me, to be incompetent as my accountant, and to have tried to blackmail me. Shortly before trial he filed a disciplinary complaint; Disciplinary Counsel found no substance to the complaint, but asked for my records; I did not have my trust account records. I admitted that I failed to properly maintain custody of the records.”
