I hired Mr. Powell to defend my son on 3 cases in three different counties. He never gave up but kept fighting until the job was done. One was a case for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was dismissed. Mr. Powell showed the prosecutor affidavits and other documents showing my son was innocent.... On another case when we went to trial , after reviewing the evidence, the prosecutor agreed to reduce the felony to a misdemeanor with a 1 year deferred adjudication that will result in a dismissal upon successful completion. On the last case my son received a 9 month deferred adjudication . Upon successful completion, that case will be dismissed as well. Now my son is planning to go to college next semester. He got both my felony jugging case and my felon in possession of a weapon case dismissed, and won my hearing to revoke my parole. He negotiated the jugging dismissal by obtaining the v...ideo that showed I was innocent. At trial on the gun case, my witnesses were well prepared and did a great job of explaining why I was innocent. Dennis got the police officer to admit on cross examination that he never saw me in possession, but only brought charges because of what someone said they saw. Dennis filed a trial memorandum that explained why under Texas law I was not guilty, and the trial judge told the prosecutors that she agreed that no crime had been committed. At my parole hearing, he handled the matters very carefully and won a reinstatement of my parole. At both the trial and parole hearing, he showed a lot of respect and got along very well with the prosecutors and parole officer, as well as the judge and hearing officer.
